Peter Feldman wins second WSOPC title
Peter Feldman held on to his lead and won the Harrah's Rincon World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) main event in San Diego Thursday. "Nordberg" gets a WSOPC ring, entry into the 2007 WSOP Main Event, and $280,859 in prize money for the victory, which was his second on the WSOPC.
In May 2006, Peter Feldman claimed the WSOPC New Orleans title. Along with poker icon Chris "Jesus" Ferguson he is the only player to have won two WSOPC events.
In New Orleans, Feldman defeated Canadian pro Gavin Smith heads-up, and they clashed again at the Rincon final table where Feldman made quad sevens to knock Smith out in 7th place.
Feldman played solid poker throughout the last day of the tournament. He came to the final table as chip leader and was never in any real danger of getting knocked out.
"I came in with a lot of chips and that's kind of a tough situation sometimes. You feel like if you don't keep accumulating chips you could start pressing things," Feldman told PokerListings.com reporter Matt Showell in a post-tournament interview.
"But things happened really smoothly, I won a couple pots early," the champion continued. (You can read the entire interview with Peter Feldman here.)
When it was time for heads-up play for the title, Feldman and his opponent Davidson Matthew were fairly evenly matched, and it stayed like that all the way to the deciding moment.
In the final hand, Matthew moved all-in for his last $485,000 when the flop showed As-Kd-Ts. Feldman thought carefully about the situation and finally made the call.
Feldman showed Ac-Kh for top two pair. Matthew flipped over Ah-4c, and was in need of a miracle, which didn't come.
Peter Feldman won the pot, and claimed his second WSOPC title.
