Europeans tune into The Poker Channel

The Poker Channel is expanding into Europe March 1, launching with leading networks in Scandinavia, France and Germany.

Each major European poker territory is covered by the new television initiative; players elsewhere can still access the channel through its 24/7 broadband feed online.

The Poker Channel will be available throughout Scandinavia - Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland - on channel 95 on the region's largest digital satellite network, Canal Digital.

In France programming is available on Noos Numericable on channels 48 and 95, as well as on the AFSL platform Free on channel 65.

Cable Deutschland and KBW is carrying the German channel.

Those in Europe with satellite dishes pointed one degree West with an appropriate set top box - tuned to 11.229 GHZ Horizontal - can also pick up the new channel.

The channel has proven to be a success in the U.K. so far, drawing up to 1 million viewers per month since launching in March 2005, said CEO Crispin Nieboer in a release.

"We are delighted to be broadening our reach across the whole of Europe, having agreed deals with the leading networks in such fast growing poker territories," he said.

The Poker Channel delivers a programming schedule of tournament and high-stakes cash game coverage, documentary, educational material and classic game coverage.

Upcoming highlights include the European Poker Masters, Million Dollar Cash Game and the Aussie Millions, among other tournaments.
