Another one bites the dust: DoylesRoom.com closes to U.S. players
American poker players will be saddened this morning to find that another top online poker room has cashed out of the U.S. market. DoylesRoom.com, the largest poker room on the Doyle Brunson Poker Network (DBPN), has regretfully announced that U.S. players are no longer welcome on the site.
"In view of the passage of the Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act and the cessation of operations by NETeller and other payment processors, the management of the Doyle Brunson Poker Network has reluctantly decided not to permit online real-money play by U.S.-based players at DoylesRoom.com," a spokesperson for DBPN management said in a release.
Effective immediately, U.S. players are no longer permitted to sign up for real-money play or deposit funds into existing accounts. Beginning March 1, all U.S. play on DoylesRoom.com will be blocked, though players will still be able to withdraw funds from their accounts.
This announcement comes after a week of confusion involving the popular poker room. Following a report on Feb. 16 that DoylesRoom.com was splitting from the Tribeca Tables network to create a U.S.-friendly poker network, the poker room sent out this release only to deny and then once again confirm its authenticity.
"We know this will come as a disappointment to you but we have taken the view that the most prudent course of action at this time to ensure the security of player funds is to conduct an orderly withdrawal from the United States market," DoylesRoom.com said in an email.
Players' funds remain secure with the poker room, though management warns cash outs may take longer than usual to process as a result of the expected high withdrawal demand from U.S. players.
Canadian, European and Asian players are not affected by this U.S. market pullout, and will continue to have access to DoylesRoom.com and the other DBPN poker rooms in the future.
