Binion's plays host to Ultimate Poker Challenge in March

The Ultimate Poker Challenge is kicking off its series of championship events in 2007 at, appropriately enough, the self-professed "place that made poker famous" next month.

Binion's Horseshoe Hotel and Casino is hosting a championship series week, featuring a $10,000 main event starting March 16 in Las Vegas.

Each player in the main event will start out with $30,000 in chips, with each level lasting 75 minutes. Though the tournament is expected to run from March 16-18, Binion's has agreed to extend the event days to accommodate the number of entrants.

"We'll let this game run as long as it has to, without any unnecessary interruption from the casino," said tournament director Brad Thomte in a release.

The main event will be televised, and each day a different table will be equipped with cameras, said Ultimate Poker Challenge production manager Rita Hawn.

"If the tournament goes for four or five days, we'll be there capturing all of the excitement right up to and including the final table," she said.

Smaller events are scheduled to kick off earlier in the week, however. The schedule is as follows:

March 12 - $600+$60 No-Limit, no re-buy tournament
March 13 - $600+$60 No-Limit, no re-buy tournament
March 14 - $600+$60 No-Limit, no re-buy tournament
March 15 - $1,000+$60 super satellites to win entry to the main event
March 16 - 18 - $9,700+$300 No-Limit, no re-buy tournament
The event will also feature a $1,000+$60 tournament on March 18, where the top three finishers will win bonus trips for two to Mexico, including air and hotel, based on a turnout of 60 players or more.
