Montreal Full Tilt charity tournament fires up in March

Canada's largest charity poker tournament has returned for a second year, this time tempting philanthropic Hold'em players with $150,000 in prizes and seats at the 2007 World Series of Poker.

The Miriam Foundation Montreal Open Full Tilt Poker Tournament starts the eliminations process March 26 in the French Canadian province.

The tournament offers entrants a one in 200 chance to win a seat at the World Series of Poker championship. Nine seats are up for grabs and up to 1,800 people are expected at the event.

The playing field will shrink to 20, however, after four days of elimination rounds in Montreal March 26-29.

The buy-in is set at $300, with up to four $125 re-buys permitted for those who slip below $1,000 in chips. The event also allows an add-on at the first break, where players may purchase an additional $1,000 in chips for $125 or $2,000 in chips for $250.

The top 20 players will fly to Las Vegas in May 2007 to compete for the $150,000 prize pool and the 2007 WSOP.

Famous rounder Howard Lederer will be on hand during the four days of play, as will other Full Tilt Poker pros.

Action at the tables will be filmed by CG TV, Canada's gaming network, and is to be distributed internationally.

The Miriam Foundation is a non-profit organization which provides a variety of services for children and adults with intellectual abilities.

For more information about the tournament and registration, visit www.themontrealopen.com or call (514)345-1300.
