The first casino dealer school opens in Singapore

Singapore will be opening its first casino resort doors by 2009, and to be ready for that day, the nation opened its first casino school. The school will help train casino workers in the fine art of running all sorts of casino games including how to deal poker.

The Club Training Centre will train people on various casino games such as roulette, blackjack, poker, baccarat and more. Not only will they learn the games and how to run them, they are also learning about casino etiquette and common cheating techniques.

The first class is slated to graduate in January after six months of training. Many of them are then planning to work in neighboring gambling areas such as Macau, Malaysia or Australia to gain experience before the casinos open in Singapore.

Two casinos are already planned to open by 2009, potentially bringing in more than $1 billion to the nation's gross domestic product, and needing a minimum of 35,000 staff.

By the time the casino resorts finally open, many of the students graduating from the Club Training Centre already have a couple years of valuable experience. They will be poised and ready to fill management positions at the fledgling casinos.
