2008 WSOP Satellites

If you host it they will come… Well that isn’t exactly how the old adage goes but the Rio in Las Vegas is hoping that is a true statement this year. With gas prices skyrocketing more poker players may be inclined to participate in satellite games to win their way to this years World Series of Poker.

Several sites are offering low cost buy in games for a chance to play with the big dogs of poker in the WSOP Main Event. Although last years winner, Jerry Yang, didn’t win an online satellite game, he still won his seat to the Main Event through a live satellite game.

Former WSOP champ Chris Moneymaker won his way to the millions and the coveted bracelet by playing a satellite game at PokerStars.

Online satellite games to the WSOP Main Event are well under way already with just a few weeks until the WSOP starts.

Players can get into satellite games this year with buy ins ranging from Free to $1000 for Main Event seats. Of course with the freerolls and low cost buy in games, you will need to win a series of games to get your magic ticket.
